Ce journal a été fondé par G. Vekeman, fondateur d'une autre Cloche du dimanche à Montréal. « It is possible, based on content matter evidence, that La Cloche of Montréal was interrupted and moved to Woonsocket (September 1899-February 1900) only to be relocated to Montréal in the second week of Fenruary 1900. This would account for numbering, banner head and other inconsistencies in both publications » (Sénécal, p. 100).
